Bismuth Team progress report – October 2020

This report covers September 21, 2020 to October 19, 2020.

Core Node

Behind the scenes work goes on, both on stable and V2 branch.

The Bismuth Foundation has an increased focus on software testing and continuous integration, and the infrastructure for this will strengthen in the coming months.

As of today, a growing test suite is being built on the current stable branch to server as reference, then being used to make sure the V2 core node is perfect match, with no regression or unnoticed change.

Travis CI also has been setup. All commits from the various branches are now tested as they are pushed and feedback is given in the related Discord channel.
Followers of the Bismuth project can watch commits to GitHub and the results of the Travis tests in the dedicated Discord channel here.

A welcomed side effect of the test suite is its use as a developer reference.
Better than abstract and outdated doc, a test suite is a minimal code that interacts with the core code and shows how to do many things, with working and easy to read sample code.

Hypernodes

Current Hypernodes ROI is 20.3%, slightly down from the last report. We count 230 active Hypernodes with a total amount of active collateral of 6,200,000 BIS. That’s two active nodes up since the last report.

Data from the Hypernodes page.

The plot below shows all Hypernodes, both Active and Inactive, during the last 60 days. As can be seen from the plot, the number of Hypernodes is currently at 296, up 2 nodes since the previous report. The big drop 50 days ago is related to many Inactive nodes being removed from the graph.

Total number of Hypernodes, both active and inactive.

The plot below shows the total Hypernode collateral, both active and inactive, during the last 60 days. As can be seen, the total amount of collateral has decreased to about 7,700,000 during this period. The total amount of BIS in circulation is 25,68 million. Hence, the amount of active collateral accounts for 24.4% of the total supply, or 30.0% if the amount of inactive collateral is included.

Total amount of HN collateral, both active and inactive.

We were happy to notice a new third part dev suggesting improvements to the Pawer Bot and issuing a PR. This is much appreciated @Animus!
At the same time, more commands have been ported to the newest Discord API and new tokens commands have been added to the Bot.
Review of the PR is still ongoing.

Exchanges

Several users experienced issues with the HUBI exchange recently.
Some orders seem to be stuck, no answer from the support.
The team is trying to get direct feedback from HUBI, with no success so far.
As a result, until we get more info we advice not to use Hubi for the time being and check the funds you may have there.
