Bismuth Team progress report – September 2020

This report covers August 18, 2020 to September 20, 2020.

On the menu you’ll find the latest work on the core node code with exciting low profile updates, the Hypernodes profitability report as well as a new user contributed Android app, nice exchange news, some interesting DeFi feedback as well as Oracles and Digital Identity management…

Core Node

More work on the next node milestone.
Current development branch run on V2 DB structure, syncs, and is Hypernode compatible.

Great care has been taken to remain fully compatible with legacy nodes and apps relying on legacy structure, while improving the core.
Several notable optimization took place, be it in code structure or space and speed wise.

Test suite is now being worked on. Regnet mode can pretend to be legacy DB or V2 DB, so you can easy compare both versions and switch back and forth.
This may not be of immediate interest to regular users, but this means many many things are being detected and troubleshooted at an early stage rather than when released.

Hypernodes

Current Hypernodes ROI is 20.6%, slightly down from the last report. We count 228 active Hypernodes with a total amount of active collateral of 6,110,000 BIS. That’s one active node up since the last report.

Data from the Hypernodes page.

The plot below shows all Hypernodes, both Active and Inactive, during the last 60 days. As can be seen from the plot, the number of Hypernodes is currently at 293, down 28 nodes since the previous report. The big drop 24 days ago is related to many Inactive nodes being removed from the graph.

Total number of Hypernodes, both active and inactive.

The plot below shows the total Hypernode collateral, both active and inactive, during the last 60 days. As can be seen, the total amount of collateral has decreased to about 7,630,000 during this period. The amount of active collateral is slightly up this period, while the amount of inactive collateral accounts for the large drop in the graph. The total amount of BIS in circulation is 25,38 million. Hence, the amount of active collateral accounts for 24.1% of the total supply, or 30.0% if the amount of inactive collateral is included.

Ecosystem

Team operated wallet servers were updated, one more was added.
These wallet servers silently and smoothly serve Tornado, Legacy and mobile wallets that can thus run without a local node.

Our Discord User whatever updated the Bismuth Toolbox Android App.
Hypernodes monitoring screen implemented, Mining payouts screen improvements.

EggdraSyl announced a personal open source project – blockchain agnostic – aiming to bring

  • Digital Identity Management
  • Reputation system
  • Oracles
  • and more

To Bismuth. It’s called “Link Of Trust”. See Tweet and related Github Repo.

Media

Given the large interest in Uniswap volume and need for a bridge to bring non-Eth coins (like Bismuth and Nyzo) to Uniswap, Eggdrasyl ran a Twitter poll to get a sense of the overall feeling:

We encourage you to detail the twitter thread, interesting insight we’ll explore there. There are many essential concerns to dissect, this is not as simple a question as it seems.

Exchanges

The day has come! CMC listed qTrade!
A more than deserved listing for that selective exchange with a technically solid team, handpicking custom codebase coins they like.
